It is with heavy heart that we report the first death of a United States Police Officer,Ā Captain Jonathan Parnell of the Detroit Police Department, due to the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).Ā Not too longĀ earlier, a 38 year old Dispatcher of the Detroit Police Department also succumbed to the Coronavirus (COVID-19).Ā
At this time, 100ās of law enforcement officers have been tested positive for COVID-19, while 1,000+ remain quarantined.
We ask that every citizen pray for the safety of our first responders, medical personnel, and nation during this time.
We remind the public that unlike community members, the concept of "social distancing" does not apply to our first responders, and first responders are now put in some of the most vulnerable positions.
